A Long Week

Everyone but me has gotten sick this week. Flu across the board and an ear infection for our youngest. I know they said at the beginning of flu season that they didn’t expect great efficacy from the vaccine this year and that is certainly showing in our household.

I’ve managed to avoid it so far but I do feel like it’s just a matter of time before I get hit.

Given the illness I’ve not made much progress on any of my books or games this week. A few chapters in Wool which has been good so far. I can definitely see some people thinking it’s too slow or too descriptive, but I like the level of detail.

MLS started back up Saturday and FCC got a win to start the season. RBNY is a tough team and FCC did a solid job despite so pretty big transfers both in and out of the team.

Liverpool plays tomorrow. Man City at the Etihad so it will be a tough one. Arsenal lost today so that gives Liverpool a bit of breathing room but a win tomorrow would go a long way to keeping them ahead in the title race.

I’m glad to have soccer to watch this weekend. I’m finally starting to get the kids into watching it rather than them wanting to watch cartoons. Although there was some napping during the afternoon game on Friday. If soccer can get them to nap peacefully, I’ll keep it playing every afternoon when they are sick.

Keeping my fingers crossed that everyone gets a good night sleep tonight and is feeling better in the morning. I’m ready to get back to a good routine next week where we aren’t juggling taking care of sick kids and trying to work. Days like that make me feel like I’m not a good enough parent and not a good enough coworker. Thankfully I’ve got some great kids and great coworkers who all understand the challenges and respect the fact that I’m doing my best to be there for everyone as much as is feasible.
